Qualifying-specific wheels, one of the things that ultimately signaled that Class 1 wasn’t going to last much longer.
I’m extremely glad they were a thing.

What was the point? Just lower drag?

Marginally lower drag, and the lack of heat extraction also meant they could get brakes up to temperature for their one shot at a lap and just about not cook them.

I’m an Opel fan myself, but both Alfa and Opel shared the full disc approach. The Mercedes vented approach just wasn’t as good looking.
Somebody has done some Giulia TC1 and DTM renderings which look pretty swish.

Giancarlo indeed, partnered in the other TV Spielfilm Alfa Corse 155 V6 TI by sometime IndyCar and F1 driver Christian Danner.
